Jim Colbert is a 1982 graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Visual Communications. As an illustrator, he has created work for clients including Valvoline Oil, First Night State College, Montgomery Community College, The Penn Stater Magazine, Town&Gown Magazine, Twilight Zone magazine, Claster’s Building Supplies, and Wolf’s Furniture.
He spent 26 years as an Art Director and Graphic Designer in Central Pennsylvania advertising agencies, with clients ranging from Penn State Hospitality, Alpha Ambulance, Dantés Restaurants and Altoona Hospital, to Benzel’s Pretzel Bakery, Sheetz, and Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Since 2008 he has divided his time between being an educator teaching Graphic Arts, and as the principle of jimcolbertdesign, specializing in music- and arts-related print design. He has exhibited his artwork at Webster’s Bookstore Cafe, Alabaster Coffee Room, Avenue 209 Coffee & Tea and is working on several new “post-pandemic” options.
